Year 4 – 2016-17

Welcome to our brand new blog!

Welcome to year 4 blog!

Hello and welcome to year 4’s blog for 2016/17!

I will use the blog to update you on what we have been doing in class, share photos and keep you up to date with everything going on at school!

We are really working hard on producing beautiful handwriting across our whole curriculum and I have been thrilled to see all of the children working towards getting their work on our super handwriting display!

This week we have started looking at the Viking part of our topic and the children have conducted some independent research in small groups which will be displayed in our classroom for all to read.

In maths we have continued to look at using the column method to complete addition number questions and have also introduced subtractions. The children are excited by our maths lesson and are all keen to become times tables super stars! Please continue to encourage your child to practise their times tables and check their understanding with the inverse operation, division.

In our literacy lessons we have started to look at Viking myths known as Norse myths. The children are building up to write a descriptive piece of writing based upon viking gods and the traditional tales told during the times they ruled Britain.

In our RE lessons we have continued to look at friendship and what it means to be a good friend.

We have had a great few weeks getting to know each other and look forward to meeting all you parents on Thursday 20th October for parents evening.
